Bio

Boston based composer and performer Aaron Clarke strives to bridge the gaps between the worlds of politics, history, and diverse musical genres..

His music has been premiered by the Horszowski Trio and the luminary new music group loadbang, in addition to receiving workshops by Radius Ensemble and Matt Heimovitz.

Clarke has been involved in numerous ventures as a hired-hand, including Daniel Sonenberg’s Machine Shop, the multi-media production Molded by the Flow, and as pit musician for numerous musicals, including productions of Spring Awakening and Catch Me If You Can. Aaron served as Dan Sonenberg’s principal opera assistant and copyist for all productions of Sonenberg’s opera The Summer King. Aaron currently works for Longy’s Divergent Studio as the assistant to the directors.

Clarke is an active recording artist and engineer, serving as both performer and engineer on his album A More Perfect Union, an album of free music in an ensemble led by Chris Klaxton, and Clarke’s own Brutality, an EP of jazz-based compositions.

Clarke holds a BM in Music Composition and minor in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine, and a MM in Music Composition from Longy School of Music.
