Bio

The awarded jazz musician, Daniel Hofecker started his professional career as a jazz trumpet player in 2008 at the Franz Liszt Musicacademy Budapest, where he was able to study with Kornél Fekete-Kovács and János Hámori.
After graduating in Budapest, he got accepted to the Kunst Universität Graz, where he took composition classes from Michael Abene and Ed Partyka and trumpet lessons from Stjepko Gut, Jim Rotondi. He received his BA performance diplom in 2017 and teacher diplom in 2019. Nowadays he is doing his Composition and Arrangement MA studies.
Daniel won the first prize on the MJSZ Big Band Composition Competition in 2016 and 2018. He and his sextet – Nexus LineUp - won the first prize, the best composition, the best arrangement and few other prizes on the MJSZ Combo Competition in 2017, and the 2nd prize on the Zilina International Jazz Contest in 2018. Daniel won the Dezso Lakatos Ablakos Prize in 2018. In 2019 he was in the finals of the Esko Linnavalli Big Band Composers Contest in Helsinki. Hofecker has been teaching on the annually organized summer jazz workshops of the Budapest Jazz Orchestra since 2016.
Daniel is recently an important member of the Graz, Budapest and Vienna jazz scene, where he had the opportunity to work with great musicians and bands including Mátyás Gayer, Dena DeRose, Renato Chicco, Thomas Kugi, Christian Salfellner, Milan Nikolic, Pete Van Nostrand, Jelena Jovovic, Budapest Jazz Orchestra, The Modern Art Orchestra, The Graz All Stars Band, Mátyás Bartha Trio, Daniel Hofecker 6tet, Anush Apoyan Sextet, The Coquette Jazz Band and the Nexus LineUp.
